This Game Of Thrones Star Might Be Joining Season 2 Of The Witcher

Rumors circulate that Kristofer Hivju could join Henry Cavill in Season 2 of the new fantasy juggernaut The Witcher of Netflix. The Witcher is based on Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski’s series of novels and stars Man of Steel’s Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, the leading witcher or monster hunter available on hire. Witchers undergo rigorous training throughout children to develop mutations and supernatural abilities such as enhanced reflexes, a strong sense of smell, and a few magic spells. Geralt’s journeys through the unnamed continent see him blend with kings, emperors, wizards, and many, many monsters. The series has become a very famous series of games listed in the adaptation of Netflix.

Season 2 Of The Witcher

Little details about season 2 of The Witcher was released beyond its expected release date in 2021, while speculation and educated suppositions about its cast and content started to whirl up. The Norwegian actor Kristofer Hivju, most known as “Tormund Giantsbane” in HBO’s Game of Thrones, is such a rumored casting that it has real plausibility. Other significant credits of Hivju include the Fate of the Furious in 2017 and the Force Majeure in 2014.

Will Kristofer Hivju Join The Witcher?

The speculation about Hivju’s inclusion in the Witcher season 2 sparkled when Manager Stephen Surjik–who had scouting sites in Scotland for the coming season–posted a picture on Instagram with the “#kristoferhivju” hashtag, after tagged the sorceress Yennefer both by Cavill and Anya Chalotra. Since then, the post was deleted, but since then, Hivju has been following three separate Witcher accounts, and his agent has been linked to the casting team at The Witcher. There has not been any concrete evidence, but the Wichner fansite, Redanian Intelligence, notes that it was possible to predict the turn of Emma Appleton as Renfro in the opening episode of the show with less evidence.

A Gain Of Truth

As for who Hivju could be playing in the second season, it was reported that the Norwegian could appear as the Nivellen, an individual who has cursed to look like a bear that Geralt encounters within “A Grain of Truth.” In the second season, “A grain of truth has been previously reported, and a lack of chronological order continues the Season 1 prompted Netflix to release a more detailed timeline to direct confused viewers. Hivju suits Nivellen’s physicality and would make a cast of relative unknowns more identifiable, except for Cavill and Lars Mikkelsen, who plays the villainous wizard Stregobor. Hivju, if cast only, will pursue Jodhi May (Queen Calanthe at The Wichter, Maggy the Frog at GoT) and Francis Magee (Yurga at The Witcher, Yoren at GoT).

Adding a familiar face like Hivju would be an obvious choice, although it would be for one episode, to add more appeal to what is already a big hit for Netflix–so much so that the books have seen a sales boost and none can get its song out. Many see The Witcher as the answer to Game of Thrones by Netflix, so why not employ talent already braved by the Westeros world?
