According to Paul Sheher, Don Cheadle will play the role of a villain in the upcoming Space Jam 2.
Best known for playing the role of Andre in The League.
Appearing in several huge films over the years, from Avengers: Endgame to Hotel Rwanda, Cheadle was long advertised as the sequel to Space Jam, but his role was never confirmed. He is one of only two high-profile actors in the cast with the fame of Sonequa Martin-Green: Discovery and Star Trek’s The Walking Dead.
Space Jam 2 has had a lot of trouble rolling the ball.
It was originally slated to begin development while LeBron James was still a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers, but the portion was significantly delayed due to Lebron’s busy schedule. It is also eliminating the cost of the film’s original director, Justin Lin. Lynn was later replaced by Terrence Nance, who later left the project due to creative differences and was replaced by Girls Trip director Malcolm D. Lee. On top of that, the movie struggled to recreate the original lineup of NBA stars, reportedly due to disputed shoe deals, and according to Brian Windhorst, the players didn’t want to be immersed in LeBron.
Scheer leaked the news while talking about the quality of Blake Griffin’s performance on The Athletic Clip City podcast (according to Silver Screen and Roll), saying, “Actually, Don Cheadle, who I do Black Monday with, Space is the bad guy. Jam and he said about Lebron. Really cool. He was great at Trainwreck too. ”
The Cheadle casting revelation is well understood.
With so many low-key actors in the movie, he realizes that Cheadle would be better used as a heavy movie rather than a partner like Bill Murray. Given that the movie is reportedly a reboot rather than a sequel, there is a chance that Cheadle will play the role of the leader of the new Monstars, and Danny DeVito may possibly have a much bigger role in the plot than the villain. Since Space Jam 2 has yet to be delayed, fans can still hope to see the full scope of Cheadle’s role when it hits theaters in June 2021.
